WHAT WE MAKE
Crochet — handmade art from a single thread.
Crochet is the craft of creating fabric by interlocking loops of yarn using a single hook. Unlike knitting — which uses two needles — crochet builds each stitch individually. This makes every row a deliberate choice, and every finished piece a record of attention.
At Baftaan, we work with crochet because of what it demands: patience, presence, and complete manual control. A crochet sweater, wallet, flower, keychain or home decor piece cannot be rushed without losing what makes it worth owning.
WHAT WE USE
Materials That Age Well
We source soft, durable yarns chosen for how they feel, how they last, and how they photograph.
Soft, Breathable, Lasting
Our most-used material. Pakistani cotton yarn is soft against skin, holds its structure well, and gets softer with every wash.
Warmth Without Weight
Used for our sweater and cap collection. A merino-cotton blend that provides winter warmth while remaining lightweight and packable.
Color-Rich, Low-Maintenance
For our colorful statement pieces. Holds dye beautifully, resists fading, and is easy to care for — ideal for everyday carry pieces like wallets and keychains.
From Yarn to Your Hands

Yarn Selection
We choose yarn by feel, color, and durability — touching every skein before it enters a piece.

Pattern Design
Each new design is sketched first, then tested in a small swatch to verify texture and structure.

Gauge & Sizing
We crochet multiple test swatches to calibrate the exact tension for each yarn and pattern.

Handcrafting
The piece is crocheted row by row. Production time: a wallet or phone holder is four to six hours; a sweater is four to six days. That is making effort, not dispatch time or delivery time.

Finishing
Loose ends are woven in, edges blocked if needed, and any closures or hardware attached by hand.

Quality Check
The finished piece is worn, bent, stretched, and inspected before packaging.

Production time is the hands-on crochet after we confirm — the hour and day ranges on this page. Dispatch time is longer: queue, materials, finishing, and packing, listed on Custom Orders. Delivery time is courier transit after dispatch. We confirm dispatch time on WhatsApp once we have seen the brief.
If you place a custom order, we will give you a specific dispatch time after seeing your requirements, and we will keep you updated with photos of the work in progress.

How to Care for Your Baftaan Piece
Hand wash only
Cold water, mild detergent — never machine wash or tumble dry
Dry flat
Lay flat on a clean surface away from direct sunlight — never wring or hang
Store folded
Keep folded in a breathable cotton bag — not compressed in a drawer
Handle snags gently
If a loop catches, never pull — thread it back with a small hook or needle
